Vista CDROM bootup-shutdown-logoff problem.?
It seems like ALOT of people are having Vista problems. I'm running a HP a1730n with Vista home premium. The problem I have is the DVD-ROM reading DVDs, but not CD-ROMS. The system also locks up (or has delays of 20 min.+) when trying to logoff or shutdown. The system is up to date, but I can seem to correct the problem. Anyway to correct this?

I am hoping that someone may at least help me figure out one of my 'many' problems with Windows Vista.
First of all the spec of my PC is Dual Core Pentium 3.4 Ghz processor with 1 Gig of ram and 250MB graphics card.

the answer is by rchilly2000 :you have to buy xp. you can't download it. I don't see how you think you download vista. you have to buy a cd that you insert in your cd drive and it is installed from there.

Maybe Australians only can answer this I use Telstra Bigpond Wireless Broadband (joke in itself) but the Maxon modem they supply is not recognised by Vista and Telstra cant OR wont issue a new driver so the I must wait until they issue me with a new modem so I can use my Vista Home Premium.
