Ever had the problem with graphics on Vista?

I got a horrible problem with my Vista. Some 3D games run choppy and the audio awfully lags, but some work normally. Strange thing is that this was not all the time since I installed Vista.
Games that lag:
-Frets on Fire
-TOS4: Oblivion
-NFS: Carbon, ProStreet
-Heroes of Might and Magic V
-GTA: San Andreas

Games that do not lag:
-Portal
-Half-Life
-Various emulators

I have Vista home premium
I have written some documents that i want to save to a portable 40gb hard drive
Vista won't let me save it there.
I'm happy with UAC but is there anywhere to tweak the settings?
the answer is by biggeo65 :I don't think UAC is responsible for this. Why safety settings deny you to transfer data to an external drive?
