Question about Windows Vista Business desktop and sidebar?
I have Windows Vista Business on my Sony VAIO. Everytime AFTER I change my screen resolution or just play a full screen game all my icons and the sidebar gadgets on my desktop get rearranged. I try to keep them nice and organized the way I like it. How can I stop the icons and sidebar gadgets from getting rearanged all the time? Thanks.
the answer is by colbychase1986 :
yes i am having the same thing happen with my sidebar gadget icons with my vista system // but not every time.
next time it happens
try this
hover your mouse at each one and click the little (x) you see there (this will ONLY just remove it from the sidebar) do this to them all then when the side bar is empty
right click an empty space on it
then click add gadgets
this takes you to what i call your gadget pallet
now DO NOT UNINSTALL ANYTHING you may not be able to get the thing back
i have the nero disc copy gadget and it can NOT be recovered if you uninstall it(it is a feature that comes only if you buy nero 8 (or get it along with your system) /// i treid searching for it and it is not available it came preinstalled along with my system
ok so now double click each gadget in the order you want them to appear
i have reset my screen resolution so that i can have 7gadgets // (instead of the 6 they started me out with)
i am using
1)clock
2)calender
3)nero disc copy
4)gold / silver prices
5)weather
6)dual core cpu monitor
7)restart /shutdown
the restart shutdown one that i am using is the simple 2 button one //the one i had on there was the four button one that allows you to either lock / system /or change user account / and reboot //shutdown(and the stupid thing was doing a countdown on me one day i noticed (i do not know how)but it was gonna either shutdown or reboot by itself)(I UNINSTALLED THAT STUPID THING QUICK!!!!!!) you can find the simple 2 button one by clicking
get more gadgets online
but like i said
be carefull and do not uninstall any of them unless you are certain you can get them back
besides i think you can put any number of gadgets on your gadget pallet !!! but the screen resolution setting will enable you to add more or less to your sidebar depending on how large you set your desktop icons
AND ALSO
if you go and download // install any other gadgets
you will see the warning they are giving
and very simply it says these gadgets are being created by various people and may cause your system to do unwanted // or unexpected things
