How do I get Vista to allow me to make changes and save files in Notepad?

Vista?!!?!!?!?
Heya… I have just got a new laptop with windows vista…but i accidently removed the sticky-notes and other gadgets you can put on your desktop…:(…and now i cant find how to put them back on..i've searched and looked through control panel and other obvious places like this…any ideas on how to get the gadgets back onto my desktop?

Vista problem!?
I'm trying to install XP over VIsta. When I reboot the comp [with vista] with the XP installation disk in the laptop, it doesn't prompt me to boot from disk, it just sits there at the boot screen (the black screen with a little blinking underscore in the upper left corner). What's wrong?

how do i set a service to manual in vista?
call me a noob but im tweaking my vista and mostly every forum says to set the processes or services u dont need to manual not disable them well… how do u set them to manual? theres no option any help will be appreciated
