Why do some people hate Windows Vista so much?

I’ve heard so many people say they hate Vista and it drives them crazy lol. First of all, Windows XP don’t and will never have the “instant search” feature that Vista has. That’s a good convenience in time saving. All you have to do is click the start button and type anything you need on the whole computer from songs and photos to text documents in the search box and it comes up right quick. The only inconvenience for some people that just like it plain and simple to use I can really think of, is the way they didn’t put the word “Start” on the start button. That can easily be fixed by switching to classic mode in control panel the same way you can in XP. When a Vista or XP computer is set in classic mode, you can hardly tell weather it’s XP or Vista. I like both, but Vista better. There have been some times when I wished I was using a Vista computer, Like When I’m using Internet Explorer version 6 instead of version 7 which is a multi tab browser like Firefox, Opera, Safari, The new one (Google Chrome), etc. (unlike version 6). I think they worked out some of those security and sleep mode bugs or whatever, when SP1 of Vista came a few months ago. Anyways, no offence to those who like XP or older better, I’m just wondering why some people like XP better. I thought the same way about Windows Vista until I bought a new computer with it and got used to it. Now the features have actually become convenient for me. Can someone that prefers and XP compare Vista and XP and tell me how XP is any better then Vista? Just wondering.

Because like most Microsoft products, it is bloated, buggy, slow, poorly designed and overall a piece of crap.

The most odious feature of Vista is the DRM (digital restrictions^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hrights management). Microsoft had 5 years to improve their OS, fix the security holes and improve performance. Instead they gave us Vista.

My work laptop is Vista. I hate it. I’ll stick with Linux, thanks.

Vista is a good improvement over XP but the problem is that they really messed up with the hundreds of do you want to lightbox prompts and it is very resource intensive. XP is a pile of crap too but to the end user it seems nicer since it is faster and does not pester them as much. Vista has a lot better security though. OSX is better than both IMO

I personally like Vista, but I can see where people are coming from. It had been so long since XP came out when Vista did, and people were just used to XP. To make matters worse, Vista came with a bunch of problems. One that frequently bothers me is a problem with the “add printer” wizard that crashes explorer. I went to the Microsoft website, found the problem, and they said it was a problem with vista, and that there was no solution. But for the most part, I haven’t been really troubled. I use a x64 version of Ultimate, and I have not met many problems. Another reason people don’t like Vista is because of driver incompatibilities with printers and such. These same hardware devices worked with XP, and people were not happy about that. I still like Vista better for its new look (XP’s “fisher-price” style drives me insane), but that is not to say I don’t keep the vista re-install disk close by! But I hope that with the next version of Windows we can finally put an end to those “Get a Mac” commercials. There are some people who like Macs. To those people I say, sincerely, shut up.
