Can I somehow convert a Windows Movie Maker for Vista like the 2.6 version to XP?

I really love how the Vista version turned out but I have an XP. And the Vista version is really magnificent and green lol. But yea I need an upgrade anyways I think I have 2.1.

the answer is by catnipcraze :
well i’ve been using movie maker since 1.0, then xp auto upgraded it to 2.0 in 2004 i think. then somehow it stopped from upgrading, i never seen a 3.0 version for xp.

when i got vista, i checked out the movie maker, and it says the version is now 6.0! but i relaly dont see any notable differencies.

what’s really shocking is on windows 7 (the next generation windows which is scheduled to release its retail version on oct.) is not gonna include movie maker as a freeware, you can download it thru windows live essential but only a trial version, meaning they gonna charge for that software!

as for conversion, you can always try to download the vista version movie maker set-up file from microsoft.com and try to install it on your xp, see if it works, if its not, then it prolly wouldn’t work.

another way is try to rip off all the contents in your movie maker folder under programfiles, and copy it and paste to your xp machine, try to open it (ofcoz registry is gonna mess up and stuff), see if it works.
